Streamline Verified Emissions Reporting with Veson’s IMOS and Veracity by DNV

Maritime operators are under increased pressure to incorporate compliance and automated data quality checks into daily voyage decisions, P&L tracking, and regulatory reporting.

To help clients bring verified emissions data into their operational and commercial workflows, we partner with Veracity by DNV, which brings verified-DNV emissions data directly into the IMOS voyage P&L, so teams can stop reconciling regulatory and commercial records by hand.

I had the pleasure of joining Dominic Ng, Head of DNV Veracity, APAC on stage at Veson Nautical’s Singapore Summit to discuss the impact of this integration for our clients in more detail.

Here’s what we discussed:

Key Takeaways

  1. The main challenge facing maritime operators is that every voyage exists twice: as a regulatory record and a commercial one.
  2. DNV-verified emissions figures flow from Veracity directly into your voyage records in IMOS.
  3. Veracity by DNV’s partnership integration with IMOS allows teams to realize a more accurate P&L, more confidence at settlement, and lower audit risk.
  4. Teams with an active IMOS subscription and DNV Veracity account can get started by submitting a request with Veson Support.

Why does every voyage record exist twice?

As we know by now, emissions are no longer just a compliance number. With EU ETS, FuelEU, and now UK ETS all in effect, carbon has made itself at home as a permanent cost line in the voyage P&L. With more regulations on the way, the need for accurate emissions accounting will only grow.

The challenge is that every voyage effectively exists twice: once as a regulatory record and once as a commercial one. Teams are often left having to reconcile the two by hand, which puts a real burden on operations and compliance teams.

How the connection works in IMOS

Veracity by DNV connects to IMOS via API, so DNV-verified emissions figures are transmitted directly into IMOS. Once there, the figures are clearly tagged as verified and built into voyage workflows and P&L, so teams no longer have to re-enter this data by hand or switch between systems.

IMOS and Veracity by DNV integration

This integration enables our mutual clients to actualize data accuracy, business agility, and decision quality — all core to the value we strive to deliver through this partnership.

Why verified data is key

Our shared goal with Veracity by DNV is to align trusted data, and the definitions behind it, across systems, so teams can work from verified figures within their system of record, IMOS.

When this foundation is in place, it changes how teams work by enabling:

  • One harmonious record: Verified figures are clearly tagged in IMOS alongside commercial data, so a single record describes the voyage in both instances.
  • Sharing across stakeholders: Everyone starts with the same information, leading to streamlined processes. For more tips on connecting teams and data, read about our client panel with Vale, PT Chandra, and AET.
  • Accurate P&L and smoother compliance: Emissions flow straight into the voyage P&L, so teams can close voyages faster, reduce discrepancies, and settle with more confidence. DNV-backed figures reduce audit risk and take the scramble out of reporting time.

This foundation matters even more as AI becomes part of how teams work. As Dominic touched on during the session, AI builds on the context it is given, so starting from consistent, DNV-verified data can help avoid inconsistencies at scale.

What clients are saying

Clients are already putting the integration to work, keeping their regulatory and commercial systems aligned and gaining confidence in the figures behind their day-to-day voyage operations and accounting.

“We have historically spent significant time toggling between systems to reconcile emissions data. Having verified, accurate data in one place has the potential to streamline that workflow and make it easier for our teams to work with trusted figures in their day-to-day operations.“

Michael Rasmussen, General Manager, Pool Management, Hafnia

As regulatory requirements continue to change, we’re excited to keep evolving our partnership to support clients across the full cycle, from vessel updates to the voyage P&L.

Get started in IMOS today

Emissions are now a commercial reality as well as a compliance requirement, and teams need figures they can trust at every step. By bringing DNV-verified emissions data directly into IMOS, this partnership gives clients one reliable record to work from, with less manual effort and a smoother path through regulatory reporting.

If you have an active IMOS subscription or Veracity by DNV account, reach out to Veson Support to get started.
