Vroon is a 10-year Veson Nautical client and a leader in incorporating Veslink and the Integrated Maritime Operations System (IMOS) reporting into their daily workflow.
Vroon’s leadership believes fuel efficiency is key to the company’s competitive advantage. As Stefan Quist, Vessel Operator at Vroon, describes it, “whether the price of fuel is high or low, we always go a step further than the CP requires to save dollars for our clients.”
Over the past few years, the company has taken a multifaceted approach to implementing its fuel efficiency program. Vroon modified its vessels, fitting them with Propeller Boss Cap Fins and mass flow meters; trained crews on how to use slow steaming to best advantage; and fully embraced Veslink and IMOS to streamline their business workflow.
Veslink and IMOS enable faster and more strategic consumption decisions
On a daily basis, Vroon uses Veslink Forms to map a dynamic picture of fuel consumption and performance across their entire fleet. Masters enter vessel data into simple standardized email templates. In just a few clicks, shore-side operators review and approve the vessel information, which populates IMOS directly.
Once the data is imported, Vroon uses IMOS reporting tools to examine a range of complex fuel consumption questions. “The issues we see on a platform supply vessel are not the ones on bulk carriers or those on the ERRV vessels that sit next to an oil rig. IMOS allows us to break up and analyze consumption data in many different ways,” explains Stefan Quist.
What’s ahead? Vroon and Veson Nautical are keeping pace with each other
Vroon is eager to see Veslink develop even further so that vessels can eliminate manual input by the crew and even replace the traditional noon report. And Vroon, like many Veslink users, has been interested in seamless access to more data on factors such as weather.
Veson Nautical is collaborating with Vroon and other forward-looking members of our community to deliver on their ambitious longer-term visions. Additionally, Veson has just released a number of enhancements to the Veslink weather routing and reporting capabilities, in Veslink Advanced Maps and Performance Reporting.
