As a Dry Bulk and Tanker shipowning and commercial management group, Stamford Shipping needed an accurate, reliable platform to assist with effectively assessing market trends and determining investment opportunities. Stamford was initially attracted to VesselsValue’s transaction data and pricing and have expanded their package beyond a simple reporting tool. We spoke with Jason Poh, Chief Financial Officer at Stamford Shipping, to discuss how the VesselsValue solution transformed their reporting and overall market strategy.
What were the key challenges you needed to address before subscribing to VesselsValue?
From an investment perspective, Stamford’s core needs are to attract, deploy, and monitor its portfolio in real time.
Initially, we subscribed to the core vessel transaction and valuation data—and since then we have grown our subscription. The platform goes beyond a simple reporting tool; we leveraged the data to source future investment ideas, as well as illuminate these ideas to our investors.
Having access to a wide range of timeseries including earnings, opex, fleet statistics, technical, transactional and AIS databases has benefited our business.
It has enabled us to report to our investors more rigorously and transparently, to better pitch to future investors, and to position ourselves to capitalise on short- and long-term investment opportunities.
