A decade-long partnership with Veson Nautical

Intership began working with Veson Nautical in 2001, when it was experiencing exponential growth in operations. The company was expanding its base of commercial management companies and wanted a comprehensive software system that would allow all its divisions and companies to share voyage and financial information.

Although Intership had software in place, it was inflexible and not tailored to the demands of a growing commercial management company. The installed system did not offer links to accounting, nor did it enable pooling of results when needed.

Intership researched solutions for chartering and operations that could provide flexibility, power, and scalability. The company tested a number of software options and ultimately selected the Veson Nautical Integrated Maritime Operations System (IMOS) because of its broad range of offerings, modular design, and adaptability.

“The Veson and Intership teams worked together to design the initial IMOS installation around our specific requirements. Through this collaboration, we got exactly what we needed, and Veson was able to incorporate many of our suggestions into future IMOS releases,” said Dieter Rohdenburg, CEO, Intership.

“IMOS Pooling is critical because it allows management to judge the performance of our vessels, and the Veson team tailored this function to meet our particular requirements. Now we can complete some very complex calculations with one mouse click.”

IMOS quickly calculates pools across the entire ISN fleet

Intership handles all technical and financial matters from Cyprus, while chartering and operations management for various fleets are handled in offices throughout the world. Since its installation, IMOS has become the management software for the fleets including United Bulk Carriers (UBC), United Product Tankers (UPT, a joint venture with Columbia Ship Management), and its Mini Container Pool (MCP).

Intership uses the pooling capabilities of IMOS to quickly create pools and view costs and profit for roughly 100 vessels in these various fleets. The company also uses IMOS for laytime calculations and as a central database for information on port calls, agents, and other operations data.

Pooling is critical because it allows management to judge the performance of our vessels, and the Veson team tailored this function to meet our particular requirements. Now we can complete some very complex calculations with one mouse click,” said Mike Broadley, VP of Operations, Intership. “IMOS quickly gives us pool results and takes account of which ships are on pool and off pool. It allows operators in different offices to add information to the pooling base, which is key for us.”

“Over the years, we’ve worked with the Veson team on everything from pooling and accounting to time chartering. Veson has also continued to make IMOS simpler to use with every release… and we particularly appreciate that. Today, our managers would say that IMOS brings real benefit to how they work every day,” continued Rohdenburg.
